The Seahawks Lost! :(

Well, the Seahawks lost last night. This pleased everyone except me and about 4 other people at our church. Even though the Steelers were predicted as the better team, the Seahawks played really hard. They probably would have won if they hadn't thrown 2 or 3 potential TD passes about an inch out of bounds. I feel sorry for the Seahawks because they've never won a Super Bowl and they did play with all of their heart.

The Panthers lost Sunday. Most teams can't win without a running game. It's a shame all the running backs had to get hurt. Goings got injured too so they had to go down to their 4th string RB. Delhomme's throws were a little off too and the Seahawks defense was incredible. Oh well, there's always next year.

Panthers vs. Seahawks

The Panthers take on the Seahawks this Sun. @ 6:00. If they win this one, they go to the Super Bowl! They have to win now because everybody is talking about them. Sports Illustrated predicted it at the beginning of the season. It's going to be tough, but they definitely have a good chance of winning. I think they have a 5-game winning streak on the road. I wish the game was at a better time but I should be able to catch most of the 2nd half and I can always tape it. See y'all on Sun.

Fire!

Clemson had an exciting start this week. On Wednesday, the say we statrted back, I was walking past Edwards Hall around 9:00 and heard an alarm. A few minutes later, people started coming out of the building and the police and fire truck pull up to the building with their sirens going. I'm not sure what happened but I would guess someone accidently pulled the alarm because I didn't see a fire of any kind.

The Panthers need to beat the Bears this Sunday in the playoffs. Go Panthers!

Back In School :(

Unfortunately, I'm now back in school. It's okay, though. I'm meeting many new people and so far I like Clemson. It seems to be a pretty cool school.

By the way, Panthers beat the Giants in the wildcard playoffs!

Football Games/Bowl Week

Hi. I've just been enjoying my time out of school and watching the bowl games this week. There have been quite a few upsets this week. Texas is going to win the national championship.

Also, the Panthers have a huge game today when they play the Falcons. If the Panthers win, they might get into the playoffs through a wildcard slot. Anyway, the Tigers won and now the Panthers need to win.

Intelligent Design

If you haven't heard yet, the Supreme Court just ruled it illegal today for public schools to teach intelligent design. The chief judge stated that intelligent design is a religious view and has no scientific basis. Therefore, teaching it would be mixing church and state. THIS IS CRAZY!!! There are 11 parents that don't want their children to be taught intelligent design. What about all the other parents that don't agree with evolution?! This country was founded on religious grounds. If you won't proof, look at any U.S. money ("In God We Trust"). Also, I believe the 10 commandments are posted above the entrance to the Supreme Court.

Now, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't mind evolution being taught along with intelligent design. Both theories may be correct. Christians believe that God created man. I, being a Christian, believe this. But God did all this in seven days. We don't know how long a "day" is exactly. Also, the Bible proves that God created animals before men. Genesis 1:20 to 1:25 declares that he created animals on the 5th day. Genesis 1:26 states that he created man to watch over the animals on the 6th day.

Christians and scientists have often held very different views. Who's to say that God didn't have the world come forth through the Big Bang Theory and create man through evolution. People have very different views regarding these subjects but one thing remains certain. God is in control of everything and everything happens the way he wants it to.

My Lights Went Out!

I was lucky Thursday, the 1st day of the ice storm because I had lights most of the day. Friday, at about 8:00, our lights went off. I figure Duke Power must have turned them off so they could work on another line. Another possibility is a tree fell on it late or more ice gathered on it or something. Anyway, they were out all day but it didn't bother us because we went to my dad's mother's house and celebrated with his family for Christmas. This ice storm is suppossed to be the worst we've ever had. I know some people are complaining about the job the power companies are doing but I think they are doing a great job. They have gotten a bunch of lights on considering how many have been out. You never realize how difficult something is until you try to do it yourself but it appears they are working very hard to restore power.

People never miss anything until they lose it. When we enter a room and flip a switch, we expect the light to come on. When this doesn't happen we get upset. Power failures are a perfect time to sit back and realize how blessed and lucky we are. While I don't enjoy power outages, I realize that America is so blessed that a majority of people have a house with electricity flowing through it. There are people without power in other countries but there are also homeless people in the USA. So next time the lights go out and you start complaining, thank God for what you have.

P.S. If you have a power generator please follow the safety instructions and make sure its far away and OUTSIDE of you house. You might even want to get a carbon monoxide detector. It could save your life.

Snow Storm

Hi. Wasn't that ice storm today terrible? Our lights went out at 8:30 and stayed out for about 2 hrs. I hope all of you had lights. We had a tree fall down in our backyard and another tree was leaning on the rail in front of where we park our vehicles. It's a really tall tree and with it being so tall, it might have damaged all of our vehicles if it fell on them so we had to move the vehicles. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your break out of school and if you must drive, drive VERY CAREFULLY!!! Stay safe and I hope to see you all on Sunday.

What Can Jesus Do for Me?

I was watching a sermon from Redemption World Outreach Center in Greenville the other day. It comes on Ch. 13 on Sun. at 11:30 PM and Ch. 16 weekdays at 2:30 PM. He said people follow Jesus because of what he can do for them. We need to serve God selflessly regardless of if he does anythong for us or not. If we serve God selflessly he will bless us although we won't live a life free of suffering!

Also, Wed. night it was mentioned that if we ask Jesus for wisdom he will grant it to us. God has a way of showing us what is best for us. I wanted to go to Clemson after graduation but I had to wait until this coming semester. Therefore, I went to Tri-County for a year. This allowed me to adjust to college and meet many nice people. Did God make it so I couldn't get in to Clemson right away? I think so. "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord." I prayed that I would get into Clemson right away, but I didn't, and I had a great time at Tri-County. As some songs say, "If you want to hear God laugh tell him your plans" and "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers." God has a plan for each of us and you should seek his wisdom when faced with a tough decision because he knows the past, present, and future.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. This past week was exam week so it was really busy. I'm out of school now! Because of this I probably won't be posting as much but I will still continue to post when I can so continue to look at my page when you can.

Back from Charleston

Hi. I'm back from Charleston. We got to see a picture of my mom's pediatric surgeon and go across the new Cooper River Bridge. The new bridge is much nicer. The road is about at the level where the top of the supports were on the old one. I believe it's a suspension bridge. It's much wider also. It has 8 lanes of traffic, 4 each way, and the speed limit is 55 (although most people drive much faster) allowing you to cross it more quickly. They also have a place to walk/bike across the 2-mile bridge.

Unfortunately, I was unable to meet my youth pastor but he should be here in Jan. and we plan to get together then.

I appreciate your prayers for me that I will get over my sickness and I'm feeling much better today. I'm at school today and I hope to see you all on Wed. or at least by next Sun. See you all soon.

Charleston

I'm going to Charleston during Thanksgiving break. Patrick, my old youth pastor, lives there and I hope I get to see him and his wife. Also, my mom likes Charleston and likes visiting. We want to see the new Cooper River Bridge, and her pediatric surgeon has his picture somewhere that we want to go see.

Is anybody else going anywhere interesting for Thaksgiving?

Tigers/Panthers

The Tigers won to make them #25! At least we're ranked again. The Panthers lost to the Bears 13-3, but they're still at the top of their conference! Vanderbilt beat TN(sorry Joel). Vanderbilt's played very well this season and just haven't been able to hold on until the 4th quarter for the win in their games.

Anyway, there weren't too many games I got to see this weekend. Next week FL plays FL State. I want to see that, and I think GA plays GA Tech. Go Gators and Jackets!

Country Music Lesson

I was watching the CMA Awards last night and Carrie Underwood sang a song that really got me thinking. It was about somebody driving down the road, hitting a patch of ice, and raising their hands to give Jesus the wheel. It goes "Jesus, take the wheel, save me from this road." Well, I heard that and got to thinking. That's exactly what we need to do sometimes. If we're going down the wrong road or hit a patch of ice (some obstacle), we need to give Jesus the wheel and let him take over. He will steer you in the direction that's best for you in the end.

Also, the Clemson/USC game is now on ESPN2 and not at Littlejohn. Go Tigers!

Clemson and the Panthers Win!

Clemson beat FSU. Carolina beat the Gators. The Panthers beat the Jets. The Panthers are now #1 in the NFC after that really close game Philadelphia lost to Dallas. Dallas came back in the last 5 min with a TD pass and an interception return. The Eagles tried to win it with a 61 yd FG with 4 sec. left that was a little short. Although T. Owens shouldn't play, they are suffering b/c he isn't playing. The Eagles passing game was really off. The Gamecocks are now #19, although they shouldn't be. It's going to be a little difficult to beat them this week but I think we can do it! They have a good secondary, WR (Rice), and a pretty good RB. We have a good WR (Stuckey), RB (Davis), and defense (Hill, Waters, Adams).

Good News! Clemson vs. USC is now going to be broadcast on ESPN2! Unfortunately, the showing at Littlejohn, which would have been fun, is cancelled.

Last Night We Celebrated Traci's 15th Birthday!

Tornadoes

I don't really like tornadoes. I don't know anybody that does. They have to be one of the most dangerous storms of human nature. You have probably heard about the tornado that came out of nowhere and destroyed a mobile home park.

I have a tornado story for you. I've been told this by my mom because I don't have much memory of it. When I was about 2 we were living in a trailer next to my mom's parents. There was a tornado warning and we got ready to go to my grandparents' house next door. Well, when we got ready to leave my dad said he needed to go put the tea back in the fridge (we had just eaten). Well, he went to put the tea up and about that time we hear what sounds like a loud train right outside. My mom said it was so loud I was screaming and she couldn't hear me. Anyway, after it was over, we went outside and saw the whole area around our house destroyed. Trees were down in the front and back yard. We believe the tornado jumped right over our trailor.

Thankfully, God was watching out for us that night and protected us. I've heard several stories of miracles. From people feeling a hand keep them in a car when they don't have a seat belt on to people seeing a shadow of a cross in a pool and dedicating their life to Christ without jumping in, to discover moments later if they had jumped in they would have died b/c the pool was drained for cleaning. Traci said down by Ravenel a truck crashed one day and this man came out of nowhere to help the teachers pull the guy out. When they looked for the man, he was gone. Miracles happen everyday and we just aren't aware of them.

Scams and Crazy Law Suits

You know what bothers me? Crazy law suits! I'm sure everyone knows about that guy that claims he got stuck to a toilet seat at Home Depot for about 30 minutes. He wants $3 million because he claims he asked for the manager and the manager didn't come until about 30 minutes later. Now sources say that he tried this before at a rest stop! Why would you glue yourself to a toilet seat to get money?! I guess people will do anything for money!

Another story, I heard about a case where this burgular tried to rob these people by going down their chimney. On the way down he got stuck. (HA!HA!) Anyway, he sued the family that owned the chimney and won because it shouldn't have been so narrow that people can't fit through or something like that. I can't believe it.

Traci's Birthday

Clemson Beat Duke!

Clemson beat Duke 49-20! Will Proctor looked very good. He completed about 2/3 of his passes and threw 2 TD passes to Stuckey. They should have put him in last week during the second half. I heard they wanted to and Bowden wouldn't allow it! I think he will prove to be a very good QB next yr. He also has the ability to run the ball, running for a TD. Cullen Harper also threw a TD pass during the last drive of the Duke game.

South Carolina beat Arkansas 14-10!
The Carolina Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Bucaneers 34-14! This ties them for 1st place with Atlanta.

This weekend was a good weekend for football. Next wk. is going to be tough for Clemson and USC. Clemson needs to beat FSU and the Gators need to beat USC. It would make it harder for Clemson to beat USC if they beat the Gators, though Clemson would still be able to do it. If USC does beat the Gators, it makes Clemson's rankings increase but there's no hope for them now.

Let me just comment on a couple of things. Holyween last night was awesome. Who knew anialating lettuce and oranges could be so much fun?!

I enjoyed the drama the drama team put on this Sun. about what happens after you die. They did a great job acting and it was a very realistic portrayal. It really gave you a chance to think about what's going to happen to you after you die.

HarvestFest is tonight. I hope we have a large number of attenders. Just by doing something as simple as handing candy out, we may be able to reach people. That's awesome! I hope to see all of you there.

Now, to football news:

Clemson lost to GA Tech 9-10 because Charlie couldn't hold on to the ball! If I recall he had 2 fumbles in the first half. Then he threw in front of the sticks on their last 4th down opportunity to score! :(

USC beat TN 16-15 because TN doesn't have a permanent QB, which I think hurts them. TN couldn't throw anything but INT's yesterday anyway. I have to compliment USC's secondary, though. They played very well. :(

FL beat GA 14-10! I didn't see much of this game but I am so glad FL won b/c I can't stand UGA. They're arrogant and don't know how to lose gracefully in my opinion. :)

In the NFL, The Panthers rolled over the Vikings 38-13, making their record 5-2! :)

Trapped in an Elevator!

Friday, October 21, it was about 2:00 and I had just gotten out of class at Tri-County Tech. I started walking to my truck and saw a police car and ambulance parked in front of the health science building. I left and was driving down the road when I saw a fire truck with its siren on headed toward the school. I didn't know what was going on! I figured it might be a bomb threat or something, but I saw that nobody was evacuated. I found out that 17 people got stuck in the elevator between the 4th and 5th floor. (How do you fit that many in an elevator? It probably exceeded the weight limit!) Anyway, they were stuck for about 40 min. and finally had to climb through the top of the elevator to get out.

I got stuck in an elevator once. I went to Myrtle Beach when I was younger and I got into the elevator at the hotel and the doors closed behind me before my parents got in. I had operated the elevator before, but my parents weren't there so I guess I was shocked with fear. They pressed the call button but the doors wouldn't open so they had to get a maid to pry the doors open and let me out.

Have any of you ever gotten stuck in an elevator? I would love to hear your story.

On a biblical note, maybe one of you feel trapped in a current situation. Maybe you feel like your grades are sinking at school and you'll never be able to recover. Maybe you and your boyfriend/girlfriend just broke up. Maybe there's a sickness or things at home aren't going well. Just remember: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." "He is my confort and my shelter." "In him there is no darkness."

On a different note, Virginia Tech plays Boston College tonight. I want Virginia Tech to run over the Eagles since we had to lose to them! Go Hokies! (How do you like their new uniforms? I don't like them; they're orange down 1 sleeve and maroon down the other.)

Also, I can't believe UVA beat FSU and then lost to UNC!

Halloween Party

We had a Halloween party here @ Tri-County Tech yesterday. I'm sure it wasn't as fun as Holyween will be, though. We had a costume contest and a dj. People were also playing video games. A cop with a pack of dognuts won for their originality, I'm not sure if I agree, but I'm not the judges.

College is going well right now. We have a big video game day every Wed. that's lots of fun. There's lots to do here but some of the classes are much harder than high school.

Does anybody else have any other Hallowwen parties that are going on at school? Let me know how school's going.

Clemson vs. Temple

Hi. I just wanted to say hom much I liked the Clemson game Sat. against Temple. I had awesome seats 4 rows up from about the 20 on the visitor side (south) and near the west endzone. We got robbed of a safety during that game! Anyway, I'm looking for another victory this Sat. against GA Tech. Go Tigers!
